CEU Celebrates a Milestone on the Global Stage

Centro Escolar University proudly celebrates another landmark achievement as Senior Vice  President Teresa Perez, CEU THE Team Lead, together with Vice President Erna Yabut, Vice  President Pearly Lim, Vice President Carlito Olaer, Dr. Rhoda Aguilar, and Dr. Jean Ramirez  represented the University at the Global Sustainable Development Congress held in Indonesia on  June 22–25, 2026. 

Their participation underscores CEU's unwavering commitment to advancing sustainability,  strengthening global partnerships, and contributing to meaningful dialogue that drives positive  change for a more sustainable future. 

The occasion became even more memorable as CEU was recognized among the 601–800 institutions in the global rankings—a testament to the University's growing international impact  and steadfast dedication to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This milestone  reflects the collective efforts of the entire CEU community in championing excellence,  innovation, and sustainable development. 

Together, we celebrate this achievement and reaffirm CEU's commitment to making a lasting  difference—locally, nationally, and globally.

The CEU THE Team’s participation was made even more meaningful as CEU earned a place in the 601– 800 global ranking, reflecting the University's growing impact and steadfast commitment to the United  Nations Sustainable Development Goals through excellence, innovation, and international collaboration.

CEU Student Triumphs in Vocal Category at the 11th Asia Arts Festival in Singapore 

Centro Escolar University Singers Manila member and Pharmacy student, Ma. Krissha Abby  Dimalaluan Oquendo has made a remarkable achievement by securing 1st Place in the Vocal  Category at the Grand Finals of the 11th Asia Arts Festival held in Kreta Ayer People’s Theatre,  Singapore. 

This prestigious event saw participants from various countries showcasing their talents in the  performing arts. 

In the Grand Finals, Oquendo captivated the audience and judges with her powerful rendition of  "Stone Cold" by Demi Lovato. Her emotional and technically impressive performance stood out  among the competitors, securing her the top spot in the Vocal Category. 

Oquendo's journey to this victory began when she first won Gold A in the Solo Singing Category at  the Philippines Arts Festival. Her outstanding performance there earned her the opportunity to  compete in international stage, where she continued to excel and bring honor to the country. 

As a dedicated member of the CEU Singers Manila, Oquendo has consistently demonstrated her  exceptional vocal skills and passion for music. Balancing her rigorous studies as a BS Pharmacy  student with her commitment to her musical pursuits, she exemplifies the spirit of perseverance  and excellence.

In a Facebook post, she expressed her heartfelt gratitude to God, her loved ones, her School of  Pharmacy family, and mentors which include Prof. Angelito Ayran, CEU Conservatory of Music  Program Head. 

Since 2013, the Asia Arts Festival (AAF) has offered an esteemed platform for musicians and  dancers of all genres to showcase their talents, skills, and art forms before a distinguished panel of  judges.

CEU BS Social Work Students Represent the Philippines at the 2026 APISWEA International Conference in Macau 

BS Social Work students from Centro Escolar University proudly represented the Philippines at the 2026 International Conference of the Asian and Pacific Islander Social Work Educators Association (APISWEA) , held from June 5-8, 2026 at the City University of Macau, China.

The team presented two researches:

Oral Presentation: "Success Stories of Workers Handling Clients with Ambivalent Pregnancy: The Case of Grace to be Born" by Alyssa Simone Camba, Ruby Anne Dela Torre, Janzen Mia Gabayan, and Jeff Reiner Guevarra.

Poster Presentation: "Navigating Challenges and Triumphs: The Lived Experiences of Social Workers in RSCC-Region III" by Julyanna Bea Cornejo, Jerylle Louise Justo, and Glaizza Maye Macawile. The research poster won the Best Poster Award among participants from the Asia-Pacific region during the conference's closing ceremony.

The students were accompanied by their Research Adviser and Program Head, Mr. John Carlo Perez, together with faculty members Ms. Milagros Reusora and Ms. Ma. Elena Garcia.

CEU Medical Technology Students Deepen Global Learning Through International Mobility and Cultural Immersion in Thailand

Beyond academic engagements, the program highlighted the importance of cultural exposure as part of holistic learning. Participants immersed themselves in Thai culture through a visit to Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, widely recognized as one of the ten most beautiful gardens in the world.

The experience offered students a deeper appreciation of Thailand’s rich heritage and natural beauty. Activities included vibrant cultural performances, an entertaining elephant show, and a guided sightseeing tour across the expansive gardens via bus. 

The program officially concluded with a closing ceremony, where Certificates of Training were awarded to participants in recognition of their successful completion of the mobility program. The delegation consisted of 10 students under the guidance of the Assistant Dean of the CEU School of Medical Technology, Dr. Aileen C. Patron.

The initiative not only strengthened academic competencies but also fostered cultural awareness, leaving participants with meaningful international exposure and lasting memories.

CEU Nursing Students Participate in International Exchange Program in Indonesia 

Centro Escolar University School of Nursing continues to elevate its commitment to  providing world-class education with the successful completion of the International  Student Exchange Program (Outbound) with Budi Luhur Institute of Health Sciences in  Cimahi, West Java, Indonesia. 

Under the theme “Rendering Safe and Quality Nursing Care in the Community Setting,” the  program was designed to broaden the experiences of CEU nursing students by immersing  them in an international community setting and providing a unique opportunity for them  to enhance their skills and understanding of nursing care on a global scale. 

Sixteen students from CEU Manila, Makati, and Malolos campuses engaged in curricular and  cultural activities. Central to the exchange was the community immersion where students  took part in health center operations and visited local families. These experiences provided  them with valuable insights into primary health care delivery and the specific needs of the  communities they served.

The program not only refined the students' clinical skills but also deepened their cultural  awareness, preparing them to deliver safe and high-quality nursing care in diverse  settings. 

Mrs. Joylyn Mejilla, Assistant to the Dean for Instruction of the School of Nursing, played a  pivotal role as the overall coordinator, ensuring the program's smooth execution.

CEU Optometry Students Complete International Clinical Training Across Asian Countries

Centro Escolar University School of Optometry 6th year students completed a series of International Student Training Programs across five countries in Asia, strengthening their  clinical competencies and global perspective in eye and vision care. 

The immersive 10-day specialty training programs provided the students with advanced exposure to global optometric practices, clinical innovation, vision therapy, specialty contact lenses, rehabilitation, and industry-based learning experiences through CEU’s  valued global partner institutions. 

In Taiwan, students trained at Asia University (AU), where they gained advanced academic  and clinical exposure to modern optometric education and emerging eye care technologies.

The program in Indonesia included training in two institutions. At Academy Leprindo in Jakarta, students underwent industry-based training and ophthalmic laboratory exposure, highlighting innovations in optical manufacturing, lens technology, and community outreach initiatives. Meanwhile, at AKTRIYO in Yogyakarta, students participated in clinical and industry immersion activities focused on optometric skills development and  community eye care delivery. 

In Vietnam, students trained at Light Eye Hospital in Hanoi, where they received advanced specialty exposure in contact lenses, refractive surgery co-management, and modern  ophthalmic diagnostics. 

Lastly, the students underwent specialty training in Behavioral Optometry, Vision Therapy, and Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation during their international training in South Korea  through the Optometric Vision Development and Rehabilitation Association (OVDRA). 

This international initiative reflects the CEU School of Optometry’s continued commitment to producing globally competitive, clinically competent, and ethically grounded  optometrists to meet the evolving demands of eye and vision care worldwide. 

Through internationalization, industry collaboration, and experiential learning, CEU continues to uphold its tradition of excellence anchored on its enduring philosophy of Ciencia y Virtud (Science and Virtue).

CEU Singers Manila Earn Multiple Awards at the Singapore International Choral Festival 2023

Centro Escolar University Singers Manila conquered the global stage and earned multiple awards in the Singapore International Choral Festival 2023 held at the Victoria Concert Hall,  Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore. 

With Prof. Angelito Ayran, Jr., CEU Music Program Head and choir conductor, the CEU Singers Manila was declared Champion in the Category B3 (Mixed Voices Open) and Category S (Music Sacra Open). They also received three Gold Awards for Category B3 (Mixed Voices Open), Category S (Music Sacra Open) and Category F (Folklore Open) and emerged as Grand  Prix Finalist. 

The Singapore International Choral Festival, renowned for its high standards and diverse participation, witnessed a harmonious gathering of some of the world's finest choral groups. Throughout the festival, the CEU Singers Manila showcased their unrivaled vocal range,  seamless harmonies, and emotional interpretations of their musical pieces.

The choir's repertoire for the competition comprised sacred and folk music masterpieces, as well as renaissance and contemporary compositions, highlighting their versatility and artistic brilliance. From hauntingly beautiful renditions of classical works by renowned composers to innovative arrangements of modern favorites, the CEU Singers Manila  exhibited a perfect balance of tradition and innovation. 

This resounding victory at the prestigious Singapore International Choral Festival not only marks a milestone for the CEU Singers Manila but also adds to the growing recognition of the Philippines' thriving choral music scene. As ambassadors of the country's rich musical heritage, the choir aims to inspire a new generation of musicians and enthusiasts while  representing the spirit of harmony and unity through their performances. 

Few days before the choral group flew to Singapore, they staged a series of concert open for all the Escolarians and even interested audience outside the University.
